As visitors may be aware, the government and Travel Authority of Thailand have been promoting the "Bangkok Fashion City" concept. It really got hyped early in 2004 with the big fashion parade down Sukhumvit that drew an estimated 300,000 onlookers. The parade featured floats on which dozens and dozens of Thai and international models strutted, displaying the latest fashions from Thai designers. The outfits on show were rather conservative compared to what is being shown in the fashion magazines like Image and Lips, among others. Apparel that has never been socially acceptable in the past is being shown right on the covers. Bikinis, lingerie, wet t-shirts, and lots of bare midrifs and backsides are appearing.
I scan the covers at a slightly larger size to give a better impression of the quality of the cover photos. But for the best viewing you should always buy the magazines.
